West Coast Creators February Blog Hop | Stampin’ Up Sweet Strawberry Bundle

2 / 14 / 212 / 13 / 21

Welcome to the February West Coast Creators team blog hop! This month, we will all be sharing birthday projects using Stampin’ Up products.  I’ve made 2 projects using the very cute Sweet Strawberry Bundle (#156214) from the Jan – Jun Mini Catalogue.  If you haven’t seen it yet, you can access it here!

This bundle comes with a berry themed stamp set, which includes several 2-step stamps (strawberry. flower and leaf) and a coordinating strawberry builder punch.

Both projects use the same sketch (i.e. same general layout) which shows you the various ways you can use this set and layout, just by changing up a few things.

Berry Blessings Watercolour Splash Card

Berry Blessings Watercolour Splash Card Close Up

This card uses a background with a water colouring technique, that I’ll call “the splat”!  I used Shimmery White cardstock (#101910) which is perfect for all types of water colour.  I soaked a sponge dauber (#133733) with water and Bermuda Bay ink (the more the better) and created various “splats” on the paper.

The rest of the card uses the stamps and punch in Poppy Parade and Daffodil Delight.  The sentiment was heat embossed in White on a black rectangle stitched shape.

Here is version 2 of the card, which I designed for our WCC team swap.  It’s very similar, except that I replaced the spats with a strip of DSP, from the Berry Delightful DSP which can be earned with the current Sale-a-Bration promotion.

Berry Blessings Swap Card

This card uses Garden Green as the base and sentinment .  Instead of stamping the flowers, I punched them straight from Coastal Cabana and Mango Melody card stock after embossing them with the Subtle folder (#151775).

West Coast Creators January Blog Hop | Stampin’ Up Art Gallery Bundle

1 / 14 / 211 / 13 / 21

Welcome to our West Coast Creators team blog hop!  This is a super exciting time, as it’s a new year and with that, Stampin’ Up has released it’s newest Mini Catalogue which spans from Jan – June.  This catty is super impressive, filled with such creative inspiration!  If you haven’t seen it yet, you can access it here!

One of my favourites and the one I gravitated to immediately,  is the Fine Art Floral suite. (#155982).  Not only does it have an versatile stamp set (with 2-step stamping) and die bundle (#156227) but it also introduces an amazing new gilded leafing technique (#154560), which I haven’t seen before.

In this post, I will be showcasing 2 cards, in the same style but with 2 different techniques, using this suite.

Art Gallery Flower Cards

Art Gallery Purple Flower Card

This card uses the large flower (2-step) stamps to give the image a nice dimensional feel to it.  It was stamped in Purple Posey and Highland Heather ink.  The card base is made with Garden Green cardstock and a 5 1/4 x 4 mat, embossed with the suite’s Painted Texture 3D Embossing folder. (#154317)

Art Gallery Purple Flower Card Close Up

You can see the new Gilded Leafing Embellishment technique, to enhance the flower.  This is done by using Versamark ink, the applying Heat & Stick Powder (#156110) and using the Heat Tool to active the adhesive.  Then the Gilded Leafing is pressed on top and the excess brushed off, to create the final look.  Amazing isn’t it?

Art Gallery Magenta Madness Flower Card

The 2nd card is a similar design, but instead of the Gilded Leafing, I used Clear Embossing Powder to create a nice glossy look over the flower.

I hope you enjoyed this West Coast Creators blog hop post.  To see more of my designs, please check out the Ideas section.  If you’d like more information, please check out my About page or e-mail me.  I would love to hear from you with any feedback.

West Coast Creators November Blog Hop | Trimming The Town Showcase

11 / 14 / 2011 / 14 / 20

Welcome to our West Coast Creators team blog hop!  We had our first snowfall in Vancouver this week, if you can believe how quickly winter is approaching!  With that, it’s time to look forward to winter holidays and preparing for its festivities!

There is no set more suited to holiday fun, than Stampin’ Up’s Trimming the Town suite. (#155105).  With the cheery colours of Poppy Parade, Old Olive, Pool Party, Misty Moonlight and Early Espresso, and the cute DSP, it was a set that I knew I had to have!

In this post, I will be showcasing a few fun projects that I made, using this suite.

Coming Home Special Delivery Car Card

This card shows off the cute DSP with houses, on a Poppy Parade cardstock mat.  The car and trees were stamped and die cut using the Coming Home Bundle (#155144) and coloured with Poppy Parade, Crumb Cake and Old Olive Blends.  These were all arranged on a Whisper White circle and Poppy Parade scallop circle die.  The sentiment was cut from another piece of DSP, with a bunch of wonderful holiday sayings in multiple languages.  A junk knot was tied using White Crinkle ribbon (#151326), Real Red Braided Trim (#153546), Gold Metallic Ribbon (#153553) and a gold Jingle Bell (#149598)

Coming Home Happy Holidays Card

Card #2 is a fancy fold card, which opens up down the middle as shown in the photo above.  It also showcases the DSP with miniature people having fun, on an Old Olive card base.  The Misty Moonlight house, is die cut straight from the DSP using the Home Together dies (#153515) found in the suite.  The sentiment is from the DSP, just like the first card.  All of this is placed on a Whisper White mat and Old Olive cut  from the Stitched So Sweetly dies (#151690), another versatile set!  Finally, a strip of Metallic Mesh ribbon (#153550) is tied and around to add some bling!

Coming Home Peace Love Hope Box Close Up

Coming Home Peace Love Hope Box Open

This last project is a cute box, that can be used to hold mini cards, tags or treats.  The box is made from Thick Whisper White cardstock, using a basic box template.  It is then decorated with the  Trimming the Town DSP, stamp and dies from the suite.  As a finishing touch, a few All the Trimmings embellishments (#153540) were used.

West Coast Creators October Blog Hop | Gilded Autumn Card

10 / 14 / 2010 / 11 / 20

Welcome to our West Coast Creators team blog hop!  This month’s theme is anything goes…which really puts our creative juices to test!  Being in Vancouver, we are starting to see the seasons change to Fall…leaves changing colours and start to fall, cooler weather and thoughts of Thanksgiving!

So, I chose to work with the beautiful Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper (#153520) and Love of Leaves Bundle (#155195). Now let me start saying, that I absolutely love this stamp set / die bundle.  It is so versatile and I have used it over and over again.  The detailed stamping and embossed stitching is to-die-for!

Gilded Autumn Pocket Fold Notecard

I wanted to create a project that highlights the usage of DSP.  I don’t know about you, but I tend to have lots of DSP leftover and have become a bit of a “DSP hoarder”.  Finding projects that leverages and shows off the DSP, is something that I have a hard time with.  So, this pocket card project was a perfect for the job!

Gilded Autumn Pocket Fold Notecard Close Up

The pocket piece is made with the Gilded Autumn DSP.  The belly band is made with Early Espresso card stock (#119686) and Brushed Metallic foil (#153524).  It was then decorated with the stamped and embossed leaves from the Love of Leaves bundle in Early Espresso and Crumb Cake ink.  A small stitched circle of the matching DSP was also used.

Gilded Autumn Pocket Fold Notecard Single

Gilded Autumn Pocket Fold Notecard Only

The inside notecard was made with an Early Espresso mat, followed by a Crumb Cake mat (#120953), followed by Very Vanilla cardstock (#101650).  The leaves again, were stamped and embossed using the bundle.  Finally, a hole punch wrapped in some Forever Greenery ribbon (#152475) to top it off.

West Coast Creators September Blog Hop | Lots to Celebrate

9 / 15 / 209 / 15 / 20

Welcome to our West Coast Creators team blog hop!  This month’s theme is anything fall…speaking of which, where did the summer go and is it really over?  We now get to look forward to crisp weather and changing colour of leaves, which is such a beautiful time!

This post features a wonderful project, using the Lots to Celebrate (#154034) stamp set by Stampin’ Up.  This design is inspired by Rhonda Wade’s gift card holder, from the recent Holiday 2020 Creative Convention.

Plaid Celebration Jar Card & Envelope

This gift card is super cute and cleverly uses a matching Whisper White note card and envelope (#131527) to create the gift card pocket.  Cinnamon Cider (#153078) and Pretty Peacock (#150880) card stock make up the card base and mat. The fun paper is from the Plaid Tidings (#153527) 6×6 DSP package .   The stamp set featured is the Lots to Celebrate stamp set, where the jars, leaves and sentiment are stamped from.   The jar was also punched out using the Jar Punch (#152703) to give the card, extra pop!

Plaid Celebration Jar Card Close Up

Copper Metallic Ribbon (#153553) was tied up into a bow and finished off with a cute little Acorn Trinket (#153552).  A few stars were added from the All The Trimmings Embellishment (#153540) pack.

See how the note card was scored and folded to make the inside gift card pocket?  What a great way to use the note card in a different way!  A smaller piece of the Plaid Tidings DSP was used to decorate the inside of the card, as well as the envelope.

West Coast Creators August Blog Hop | Love of Leaves

8 / 14 / 208 / 13 / 20

Welcome to our West Coast Creators team blog hop!  This month’s theme is the newly released August – December 2020 Mini Catalogue  by Stampin’ Up and I am showcasing the Love of Leaves bundle.  The new catty is where you will find new and amazing products for autumn and the holidays.   If you haven’t seen it, you can take a look here on my Catalogues page.

Love Of Leaves Crumb Cake

This card is all things autumn fun!  To create a neutral canvas and to let the leaves shine, the card base is made with a Crumb Cake.  It is then layered with a stitched rectangle die cut and then embossed with the Subtle folder.

Love Of Leaves Crumb Cake Close Up

The stamp set is from the new Love of Leaves stamp set.  I just love the font of the sentiment – cute and simple!  The leaves are “the star of the card” and cut from the matching Stitched Leaves dies.  Mango Melody, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana and Pear Pizzazz, and sponged with slightly darker inks to showcase their outlines.

I used the Linen Thread to create a small bow, to finish off the card.

Menagerie Mix-Up Bear Card

8 / 9 / 208 / 9 / 20

Hello!  Today, I am sharing a project made for a  Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  The sketch gave me a lot of inspiration to come up with the final design of the card and gave me a good reason to play with the newly released Menagerie Mix-Up bundle.  What an adorably cute set!

This was among the many new bundles, just released on Aug 4.  If you haven’t seen the new Aug-Dec catty, check it out here.

Menagerie Mix Up Bear Balloon Card2

The card base is made with a Whisper White thick card stock.  I added a layer of regular Whisper White, cut at 5 1/2 and 4 1/4 and then embossed it with the new Wrapped In Texture folder, to create the background.

I used the Be Mine Stitched dies to create the scalloped edges and added a strip of Playing with Patterns DSP on top.  A stitched square in Coastal Cabana was also cut out.

Menagerie Mix Up Bear Balloon Card Close Up

The cute bear and balloons are from the Menagerie Mix-Ups stamp set and the dies.  The little guy was coloured with Crumb Cake blends and the balloon with Highland Heather blends.

The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Birthdays.

How cute is this set!  There are so many options to make cute animals for any occasion!

Hippo Happiness Silhouette Card

7 / 22 / 207 / 24 / 20

Hello!  Today, I am sharing a project made for a TGIF Challenges.  I have to admit, this one was a bit daunting for me, as the technique “silhouette effects” is not something I practice often.   I believe most stampers would choose a nice sunset, flower or landscape silhouette.  Not sure why, but the first thing that came to mind, was a cow jumping over the moon?!

I didn’t find a cow stamp but the fun Hippo Happiness bundle provided lots of other cute animals to play with!

Hippo Happiness Silhouette

The night time background was made with a masking technique (for the white moon) and sponging using Misty Moonlight and Balmy Blue inks.

The unicorn silhouettes were stamped using the Hippo Happiness stamp set.  A bit of Wink of Stella was spattered on too, to create a starry sky.  This was then cut out with a rectangle stitched shape die and matted onto a Playing with Patterns DSP and Basic Black card stock.

The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed on Basic Black.  Finally, I added a Coastal Cabana bow and Basic Rhinestones to complete the look.
