Welcome to our West Coast Creators team blog hop! This month’s theme is “New Annual Catty” from Stampin’ Up’s newly released products. If you haven’t seen the catty, you can take a look here on my Catalogues page. One set that immediately caught my eye, and I absolutely needed, was the In Good Taste suite. What an amazing set of images, dies, paper and oh, the textile embossing folder! Love, love love it all!
I needed some extra inspiration so I played along with a sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches, which provided me with a great layout to work with. I also drew inspiration from the layering in Tammy Wilson’s Painted Poppies watercolor card. With all of this, here is my first creation of the annual catty…
The 2 large flowers, branches and sentiment are stamped and heat embossed, using the Tasteful Touches bundle. The flowers and branches are water coloured in Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight and fussy cut out. Vellum leaves are die cut from the Magnolia Dies, the gold leaves using the Spring punch and white branches from the Sunflowers dies.
The 2 square mats are taken directly from the sketch challenge. The white mat is embossed using the Tasteful Textile folder and splattered with Bermuda Bay ink. The Bermuda Bay mat is embossed using the Scripty folder and sanded down, slightly for a “roughed up look”.
Finally, gold metallic trim and pearls were added from some extra bling!
