I’m participating in this week’s Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge this week. It is a sketch challenge so we get to create anything, as long as we use the given sketch as inspiration. This post also features some great new products from Stampin’ Up’s newly released annual catalogue and one of my favourites…’Free As A Bird’ suite.
This challenge was set by Hand Stamped Sentiments. Please check out their blog and feel free to play along next time! Here is the sketch we were given…
And my interpretation used the Free As A Bird Suite from Stampin’ Up.
I pretty much followed the sketch layout “to a tee” so my creativity was focused in on the colours, stamping and designer paper. The base was made with Whisper White paper and 2 designs from the ‘Free As A Bird’ DSP was used as layers, both matted on Basic Black.
The sentiment was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed in Black, on Daffodil Delight cardstock. I love that the look of embossing gives the sentiment depth and extra boldness!
The oval cutout was stamped with the 4 birds image in the stamp set and then coloured in with Blends. There is just something so satisfying in colouring with Blends and it’s so easy to create beautiful shading and depth with them! Finally, some extra finishing touches using White flax ribbon and Basic sequins.
